The Pendragon Society

Lore, Legend and Literary Magic – Exploring fantasy one spell at a time

The Pendragon Society

Thank you for wanting to learn more about our society and the lore behind this fantastical endeavour. Overall the society is run by a team that adores fantasy, magic, literature and authenticity. We value our readers as much as we do our writers and aim to bring a little magic into the world. In a world that seems to be run by cogs, governments and an overpowering demand for realism, the society decides to focus on daydreams. Whether thats by making small entertaining tidbits that get you further absorbed into your latest obsession, curating old knowledge about long dead writers that formed the foundation of literary spheres, or formulating beautiful anthologies through collaboration and expression. The Society is a home for fantasy, where magic is written and dreams are brought to light.

Our Ethics

The Society intends to provide equal entertainment and opportunity to our audience and contributors. We don’t judge by class, race, species, gender or magical affinity. We value all writers, readers and artisits, whether they come with dragonwings or snake eyes. We welcome diverse stories that branch into ethnicity, culture and social vibrancy but please don’t feel ‘boxed in’ by your identity. The Society aims to blur lines, not solidify them. Take strange perspectives, new interpretations, research obscure heritages. Write about whatever you’d like and leave it up to our curators to find a spot for it.

Our Guidelines

We hate to be anti-cyborg at the society but unfortunately we draw the line at artifical intelligience. If you’re entering one of our competitions or being featured in an anthology, please write, draw and create your own work. If you submit something written by AI, then technically the author is ChatGPT and you, and that doesn’t look as nice on an author page. We’d rather have rough sketches, typos, nonsensical grammar and glitching animations that have work that’s missing the magical element found in human nature. AI is a lovely, helpful tool. But here we’re looking for humanity, expression, magic and freedom and that’s not found in code. It’s found in you. So say goodbye to conversation prompts and rather hand in the rough draft.

How To Join The Pendragon Society

The Society isn’t just made up of the people who work behind the scenes, its a collaborative effort of writers, readers, inventors, artists and everyone that desire a little magical corner to belong. We’re trying to grow a community that can explore their interests and foster opportunities for fantasy lovers. The artist is always neglected but we believe that art is an expression of the essence of humanity. It’s how we foster empathy, care and consideration. It’s how we document time and events. It’s how we commemorate people and places. So there’s multiple ways to connect and become an active part of the society.
